Pharmacy residency overview
Our hospital offers two comprehensive residency programs:
- Our post-graduate year 1 (PGY-1) pharmacy program seeks to build on Doctor of Pharmacy education, helping develop qualified individuals into knowledgeable clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care.
- Our PGY-1 pharmacy residency program director is Lacey Ioppolo, PharmD, BCCCP. You can contact her by email.
- Our post-graduate year 2 (PGY-2) critical care pharmacy program provides specialized advanced training and experience that prepares residents for critical care clinical practice or fellowship.

Memorial Health University Medical Center
Our hospital is a tertiary care and academic medical center serving a 35-county area in Southeast Georgia and Southern South Carolina. In addition to general medical and surgical services, we offer a variety of critical care specialty services, including the region's only Level I Trauma Center, tertiary critical care, cardiovascular critical care, neurocritical care, pediatric intensive care and a 92-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Our pharmacy team provides optimal, 24/7 pharmaceutical care for our patients.
How to apply to our program
Our pharmacy residency programs use the PhORCAS application system through ASHP. Please submit all application materials through the applicant portal on the PhORCAS system. The deadline for receipt of a complete application packet is January 5. Applicants can begin submitting materials through PhORCAS on November 19. Complete applications should include the following:
- Curriculum vitae
- Letter of intent
- Official transcripts of all professional pharmacy education
- Three letters of reference completed by healthcare professionals who can attest to the applicant's practice abilities and aptitudes (uploaded directly from the authors beginning on November 19)
The application, letter of intent and curriculum vitae should be submitted via the PhORCAS applicant portal. Letters of reference should also be submitted no later than January 5, directly from the authors, using the ASHP Reference Template on the PhORCAS Reference Portal.
On-site interviews will be required.
